Paddy McGuinness has asked his friend Jamie Redknapp to sort him out with some new shoes for his three kids who are going through a growth spurt.

The Take Me Out presenter who is currently going through a turbulent time with his wife Christine explained that shoes in the McGuinness household are currently a hot topic.

Paddy, 48, revealed that his three children, twins Leo and Penelope, nine, and daughter Felicity, five, all require new shoes as the tots continue to grow.

But their growth spurt means their famous parents are splashing the cash on a whole new range of shoes including PE shoes, trainers and everyday footwear.

Taking to his Instagram page in view of his 2 million followers, the Top Gear star shared a video that he quickly recorded during a visit to his local Sports Direct store.

Paddy showed a shop assistant at the store in Macclesfield, Cheshire, carrying 12 boxes to the cash register after the comedian picked out his kid's shoes.

Captioning his post, he penned: "Our 3 kids are going through growth spurts! Two at 9 and one coming up for 6! Including their school shoes, PE and everyday footwear we're up to 12 pairs!!!!

"It's times like this when my heart goes out to centipedes. Big up to the staff at @sportsdirectuk Macclesfield for helping me out.

"That was a lot of packing near closing time on a Sunday. PS when you hooking me up @jamie.redknapp."

The video showed the store assistant dropping a box of Skechers from the top of the pile onto the floor.

Paddy said: "Skechers are going, uh, I'll have Jamie Redknapp on the phone, what's going on?!"

Shortly after Paddy shared his video, Jamie commented: " Pick those up, sharpish big man! And get them in the bag."

Jamie is, of course, a representative for Skechers – a brand which frequently features on his respective social media accounts to promote the footwear company.

Fans were quick to flock to the comment section, praising Paddy for shopping at Sports Direct which has become famous for its bargains.

"Love that you go to Sports Direct… Most celebs would be posting £150+ for one pair," said one.

While a second added: "That's one of the things I like about you Paddy, you buy normal shoes like the rest of us. Not like most celebrities that will pay for priced designer shoes for their kids even for school."

"To all the bloody moaners Paddy could easily be in the Trafford [Centre] spending £100's on each pair… He's not , he's keeping it real [by] going [to] Sports Direct. You know why? because Paddy like a lot of us comes from not having a lot," exclaimed a third.
