Meek Mill is ready to be back on the road following his prison release earlier this year. The rapper announced on Monday, November that he would embark on “The Motivation Tour” that begins in 2019 to support his new album “Championships”.

The 16-city trek will kick off on February 19 in Miami and includes stops in Los Angeles, Chicago, New York, Washington D.C. as well as his hometown of Philadelphia before concluding on March 24 in Atlanta.

Exclusive pre-sale for the tickets is available for Tidal subscribers starting November 26 at 12 P.M. ET until Thursday. Citi cardmembers will be able to buy tickets starting Tuesday, November 27 at 10:00 A.M. ET until Thursday, November 29, thanks to Citi’s Private Pass Program. Tickets will be available for purchase to general public on Friday, November 30 on Livenation.com at 10:00 A.M. ET.

“The Motivation Tour” marks Meek’s first tour since he was released on bail in April. In November 2017, he was sentenced to four years in state prison for violating his parole. He was initially denied bail, before it was revealed that a police officer in his case possibly mishandled his arrest.

In an op-ed written for The New York Times and released on November 26, Meek demands justice for prisoners and explains the need for criminal justice reform. “I was the victim of a miscarriage of justice – carried out by an untruthful officer, as determined by the Philadelphia District Attorney’s office, and an unfair judge,” he claims.

Calling himself “a lucky one” for being able to resume his life after serving five months in prison, the 31-year-old notes, “but because of dysfunctional, discriminatory rules, most don’t.” He points out, “It’s clearer than ever that a disproportionate number of men and women of color are treated unfairly by a broken criminal justice system.”

“The system causes a vicious cycle, feeding upon itself – sons and daughters grow up with their parents in and out of prison, and then become far more likely to become tied up in the arrest-jail-probation cycle,” he argues. “This is bad for families and our society as a whole.”

Saying that he’s “determined to use my platform to help those without the resources to make their voices heard,” Meek is introducing a yet-to-be-launched new foundation “dedicated to achieving real change.” He urges people to sign up to www.reformnow.com, stating, “Together, we will demand stronger prison rehabilitation programs, updated probation policies – including shortened probationary periods – an improved bail system and balanced sentencing structures.”

“The money saved from imprisoning fewer people could then be used for employment programs and mental health counseling that would equip the formerly incarcerated with the tools for reintegration into society,” he explains, before stressing, “Above all, we need to make sure punishments actually fit crimes.”
