LazyTown stars pay tribute to Stefan Karl Stefansson after he dies aged 43 following cancer battle

LazyTown stars have paid tribute to Stefan Karl Stefansson following his sad death.

The actor, who played villain Robbie Rotten in the hit kids show, passed away aged 43 after a battle with bile duct cancer.

Magnus Scheving, who created the show as well as playing hero Sportacus, led the tributes with a picture of them together on his Instagram.

“Today the world is poorer. Stefan a great talent and a human being passed away,” he wrote. “My heartfelt for his friends and family. LazyTown will be empty without you (sic).”

Julianna Rose Mauriello also shared a picture of the pair hugging while she was dressed as her character Stephanie.

“Death leaves heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal. I always will be dancing right beside you,” she wrote.

“But I know you are not alone, you have my mom and grandma. Please watch over me. I will try to stay strong.”

The role of Stephanie was taken over by Chloe Lang, who also shared a tribute on social media.

“Rest In Peace to one of the best people I know. Thanks for all the laughs. Miss you already,” she said.

Icelandic star Stefan starred as Robbie Rotten throughout LazyTown‘s run from 2004 to 2014.

Earlier this year, he shared the tragic news that he was battling an inoperable form of cholangiocarcinoma after previously being given the all-clear from the disease last summer.

His family confirmed he had passed away surrounded by his loved ones. He is survived by his wife and four children.
