Kylie Minogue makes fans sing Neighbours theme tune at arena gig

Kylie Minogue may be celebrating over 30 years in showbiz, but she hasn’t forgotten where she came from.

The singer, who is currently on her Golden tour, gave fans a special treat during her gig at Leeds’ First Direct Arena on Thursday night (October 4).

In the middle of her set, Kylie broke in to the Neighbours theme tune and got the whole audience to sing along.

Prior to her pop career, Kylie starred in Neighbours from 1986 to 1988, playing tomboy mechanic Charlene Robinson.

The character is most remembered for her July 1987 wedding to Scott Robinson, played by real-life boyfriend at the time Jason Donovan.

It appears Kylie may been feeling a little nostalgic for her Neighbours days as of late, as last month she reunited on stage with Jason.

The former on-and-off screen couple teamed up for Radio 2 Live in Hyde Park in September to sing their 1988 hit ‘Especially For You’.

And in May she reunited with Jason and fellow Neigbours alumni Guy Pierce to celebrate her 50th birthday.

But don’t hold out for Kylie putting Charlene’s overalls back on anytime soon, as in March she claimed a comeback on the soap would be a “let down”.

“I think Charlene lives in that time and lives in people’s memories,” she said.

But that doesn’t mean we can’t continue to enjoy Kylie making Neighbours callbacks 30 years after leaving Ramsey Street.
