Great British Bake Off winner Candice Brown has married her partner Liam Macaulay

Congratulations are in order for former Great British Bake Off winner Candice Brown, who has tied the knot with partner Liam Macaulay.

The 2016 series winner confirmed the happy news on Twitter that she married her boyfriend of six years in secret at a French chateau.

“Got married didn’t we,” she wrote on the social media site, leading to an outpouring of love from fans and fellow Bake Off contestants.

One of this year’s stars, Kim-Joy, wrote: “Awww Congratulations!!!” while former winner Nancy Birtwhistle added: “Huge congratulations Candice.”

Candice later thanked everyone for their messages, tweeting: “The congratulations & love we have received is incredible! Thank you so much for all your kind words!

“I keep bursting into tears (of complete overwhelming happiness & joy) -to anyone posting negative comments- I hope one day you experience the love and happiness we have #wife.”

She also revealed that they had decided to stay in France longer than intended at the last minute for a little honeymoon. Well, what better way to spend it, eh?

Earlier this year, Candice revealed that her fellow series 7 contestants would be making her wedding cake, saying on Loose Women: “I’m not doing [my wedding cake], I’ve done a couple and it’s the most stressful thing I’ve ever done.

“I happen to know 11 really good bakers and they’re all going to do a tier for me. It’s going to be pretty big I think.”

The Great British Bake Off continues tonight (September 25) at 8pm on Channel 4.
