Elton John forced to cancel concert over fears for health

The Rocketman star was forced to cancel a concert in Italy last night over fears for his health.

Elton John is currently performing in a number of countries across the world on his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour.

The 72-year-old began the tour in September 2018 and will finish in December 2020, with his final ever show taking place at the O2 Arena in London.

However, he was been forced to cancel a concert in Italy last night over fears for his health.

A statement issued by concert organizer, D’Alessandro and Galli on Facebook reads: “Dear friends in Verona, it is with deep regret that we announce we have to cancel Elton’s show tonight.

“Yesterday, Elton was fighting off the flu.

“He was not well during his vocal warm-up before the show in Verona, and despite his conditions, he still managed to perform.

“The cold and humid temperatures in the amphitheatre aggravated his condition.

“Unfortunately, after a night of rest and a doctor appointment this morning, he did not get better and his vocal cords seem enflamed. It is been advised not to perform tonight.”

It continues: “So it is with a heavy heart, we announce the show tonight has been cancelled.

“We are checking if there is a possibility to reschedule the show.”

Elton is next scheduled to take to the stage on 7th July in Lucca, Italy.

Meanwhile, Elton’s biopic Rocketman has revived rave reviews from critics.

The musical film chronicles the life of the musician from his early years as a prodigy at the Royal Academy of Music into the iconic legend he is today.

Directed by Dexter Fletcher and written by Lee Hall, it stars Taron Egerton as John, with Jamie Bell, Richard Madden, and Bryce Dallas Howard.

Daily Star Online has contacted a representative of Elton John for comment.
