As Halloween rolls around Daily Star has looked at some of the famous faces who have appeared in the afterlife – whether it's at home or in public.

Most of those who have reappeared died with some kind of controversy or devastation surrounding them, but who has shown up and where have they been seen?

Marilyn Monroe

Marilyn Monroe was found dead on August 4, 1962 after a drug overdose at her home in Brentwood.

Years on she is said to haunt the very house she shared with her poodle Maf – and it's said both of them now haunt the property, with his cry said to be heard from the courtyard.

Marilyn has also been reported to have been spotted around the property – but it's not the only place she's been "seen" at, with room 1200 of The Roosevelt Hotel and The Hippodrome on the Santa Monica Pier also being labelled as spots.

The actress had an incredibly successful career and became a sex symbol after her relationships with various men were publicised.

Marilyn's death was ruled as a suicide at the time, but conspiracy theories have surrounded her ever since.

Anna Nicole Smith

Playboy star and model Anna Nicole Smith died in February 2007 of a combined drug intoxication.

The model appeared as the Playboy Playmate of the Month in 1992 which saw her career get thrust into the spotlight.

But ahead of her own tragedy she faced personal tragedy when her husband of just one year sadly died in 1995.

Her own life came to a tragic end in 2007 after spending her final hours at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood Florida.

Since then, people have claimed they have seen her spirit wandering around the hotel lobby.

Joan Crawford

Joan Crawford was 69 when she died of a heart attack after slowly becoming reclusive following her Hollywood heyday.

But the true concerns came after her death with her Brentwood home also reportedly being haunted, according to her adopted daughter Christina Crawford.

Joan died at home but things got "weird" with spontaneous fires in the wall behind where Joan's bed used to be".

Reports claimed the Beverly Hills Fire Department spent four days attempting to solve the mystery of the fires that would break out on the walls.

Christina claimed the owners had the house exorcised numerous times as she added: "Every single family that has lived in the house had horrible things happen… illnesses, alcoholism, addictions, relationship problems and now the walls are breaking out in flames."

Christina added that she believes the spirit haunting the house is Crawford, adding "she was capable of real evil".

Amy Winehouse

Unlike many others, Amy's ghost isn't just surrounding one particular place, but connects with her loved-ones instead.

In 2011 The Sun reported that her ex Pete Doherty fled to Paris after her ghost showed up at his London flat multiple times.

In 2018 her dad claimed that Amy's spirit has visited her family home in Kent, adding that it "comes and sits at the end of the bed".

Amy had long battled with substance abuse and addiction prior to her death and in 2011 she died of an alcohol overdose at just 27-years-old.

Michael Jackson

Ghost hunters have claimed that he was filmed speaking to YouTubers outside of his mansion.

OmarGoshTV attended the front of the house and held a "spirit box" which allows people to make contact with people beyond the grave.

The group said they got "responses" after asking a series of questions and commenters said the "spirit" voice sounded just like the pop icon.

Other sightings have included claims of him roaming Neverland following his death.

Michael died at 50-years-old in 2009 of cardiac arrest, caused by a lethal combination of sedatives and Propofol.

In 2011 his physician, Dr Conrad Murray, was found guilty of the involuntary manslaughter of the star.
