AceShowbizEd Sheeran has teamed up with Pokemon for new music. On Thursday, September 29, the “Thinking Out Loud” hitmaker unleashed a brand new song called “Celestial” along with its cute animated music video.

Directed by Yuichi Kodama, the visuals is inspired by Ed’s love for some Pokemon characters, including Pikachu, Squirtle, Machamp, Snorlax and many more. In the clip, the 31-year-old English musician can be seen living his everyday life with them.

“You make me feel/ Like my troubled heart is a million miles away,” the Grammy-winning crooner sings in the chorus. “You make me feel/ Like I’m drunk on stars and we’re dancing out in the space/ Celestial/ Celestial.”

“Celestial” will be featured in “Pokemon Scarlet and Violet” video game, which is set for a November 18 release. Of the collaboration, Ed first shared in a statement, “I’ve played Pokemon since I was in primary school. Me and my brother used to have different versions of the games and would trade Pokemon together ’til we each completed our Pokedex.”

“I loved the cards but the games are what I lost myself in. I loved the whole world they created; it kept me distracted if there was negative stuff happening in my life/school that I wanted to avoid,” he added. “It was a world I could escape into and I’ve played it ever since.”

“Even though I’m 31 now, I still own the same Game Boy Colour and play Pokemon Yellow or Silver on planes and trains when I’m on tour,” Ed further detailed. “It’s such an honour to add a song into a Pokemon game and shoot a nostalgic video too. I hope you guys enjoy the song and video – it was a blast to film!”

Ed himself got a new tattoo of Squirtle on his arm. He showed off the artwork a week ago by sharing a video of himself on Instagram. In the caption of the post, he wrote, “I think it fits right in, yeah? ‘Celestial’ out 29th Sept!”
