Holly Willoughby and Philip Schofield announced on This Morning on Monday (3 October) that Patsy would be one of the stars with skates on this year.

Patsy said that she wanted to "get out of her comfort zone" and that she "wants to challenge herself".

Speaking to Holly and Phillip, Patsy said of her reason for signing up for the show: "Out of all the things that came through at that time, this was the one that I had to really think about.

"I wanted to challenge myself, get back to work, get out of my comfort zone.

"And I just thought 'Oh I'll just go for it', it seems like a lot of fun and I do love ice skating but I'm not an ice skater!"

Phillip then revealed that Patsy had been asked to do the show in the past but had previously turned it down.

The former EastEnders star explained: "Yes, I know!

"Because I've been absolutely terrified before, but the pact I made with myself before I was 50 years old this year was 'I have to do things that challenge myself for the next couple of years.'

"It's such a weird age, so yeah, this is for all of the 50-year-olds who think they can't challenge themselves!"

She also said that she would like to "skate to some songs she loves" but doubts that the Dancing On Ice crew will let her perform to some "banging house tunes".

Love Island champion Davide Sanclimenti recently revealed he had been invited to star in Dancing on Ice this year but decided to turn it down.

The 28-year-old said: "They wanted me to do Dancing on Ice this year but I refused this time around.

"I have so much going on I can't commit to something every day and when I do something I want to do it properly.

"Right now I just can’t focus on something like that, for the moment anyway, but in the future maybe I will."
