David Bowie was a iconic star for years and years – and is still remembered for his incredible music. He was also a star of the big screen, having big roles in a number of cult and indie classic movies. But in his private life, who is his widow Iman and how long were they together?
Before Bowie met Iman, there was another lady in his life.
After becoming a solo act, Bowie met Angela Barnett, just before the release of Space Oddity in 1969.
The pair married within a year, but according to Angie, they married “so that I could work,” telling the Evening Standard: “We got married so that I could work [to get a permit].
“I didn’t think it would last and David said, before we got married, ‘I’m not really in love with you’ and I thought that’s probably a good thing.

“Then I think he fell in love with me because he got really mad when we broke up and he behaved like a b****y queen.”
Bowie even said she was like “living with a blowtorch,” and their relationship, needless to say, did not last long.
One source told the Evening Standard Angie had a huge impact on Bowie’s career and helped to “promote” him.
The source said: “He was already making music but she understood the power of his androgyny and ambiguous sexuality and pushed that side.

“Really, he was a voracious heterosexual but Angie promoted an image of him as a polysexual athlete.
“Where David had the diffidence of an Englishman, she had the brash confidence of an American.”
However, despite their marriage only lasting a short time, Angie gave birth to their son, Zowie, on May 30, 1971.
Zowie is now widely known as Duncan Jones, and is film director, having made films Moon, Source Code and Warcraft.

When Zowie was just eight-years-old, in 1980, Angie and Bowie divorced, and the singer had full custody of his son.
In 1992, some time later, Bowie married his second wife, Somali model Iman, and the couple had a private ceremony in Switzerland.
Following this, Iman had the wedding solemnised in Florence, Italy.
Before Bowie, Iman married a Somali entrepreneur at age 18, but the marriage ended not long after when Iman moved to the USA.
After that, Iman dated American actor Warren Beatty for a short while in 1977, before she married basketball player Spencer Haywood in the late 1970s
The couple had one daughter, Zulekha who was born in 1978, and the couple divorced in 1987.
With Iman, Bowie had his second child, Alexandria ‘Lexi’ Jones, who was born in New York City on August 15, 2000.
Sadly, Iman was left a widow and their children without a father when Bowie died of liver cancer on January 10, 2016, meaning altogtether Bowie was married to Iman for 24 years.
