Corrie’s Kimberly Hart-Simpson splits from from Celebs Go Dating boyfriend Shane

Coronoation Street star Kimberly Hart-Simpson has revealed she's split from her Celebs Go Dating boyfriend, Shane, after a six-month romance.

The actress, who plays Nicky Wheatley in the soap explained that distance and current lockdown restrictions prevented their relationship from developing.

Kimberly, 34, took to Instagram to share the sad relationship update, telling fans: "After 6 months of dating Shane and I have decided to part ways.

"We are proud of our journey and respect each other immensely. The show has been the best experience."

The actress continued: "Our journey after that even better but with the distance between us, work commitments and restrictions can naturally take its toll.

"Thank you for the love you have given us, it has not been wasted. XX"

The TV talent had previously begun dating Shane Finlayson in the most recent series of Channel 4's Celebs Go Dating.

She even announced last month that the two had moved in together during lockdown.

On moving in together, Kimberly told Fubar radio: "We have been thrust together. Because of lockdown, we've had to stay in the same home together. Because either that, or we have no chance, like what, what chance have these relationships got when they are distanced right now and everything's stacked against them?

She even addressed the awkwardness of watching her dating journey on screen with her current boyfriend.

She jokingly saying: "We made a bold, strong choice to watch the entire series together and continue living. Yeah, he had to watch me dating with other people. That wasn't awkward at all. I was like, ‘Hahaha, I didn't really think they were fit’. They were."

The pair had really hit it off on the dating show, and in the final episode, Shane had declared he was in love with the actress.

With tears in his eyes, Shane admitted to Kimberly: "I've been wanting to say something for the last few days.

"I've literally fallen in love with you and I want to be with.".

Kimberly felt the same way, tearfully replying: "For every single second and minute passing, I'm developing more and more feelings for you.

"I just want you to know that I'm going to encourage you, stand by you. We've got each other now. I want to be with you."

The two had revealed their official relationship status to fans on Instagram back in February, with the caption: "Hey Insta. Meet the fella."
