The Fact Music Awards 2021 took place on Oct. 2, and the award show was held completely online due to the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. At The Fact Music Awards, BTS‘ Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook took home multiple awards and performed. Jungkook of BTS also debuted a lip piercing, setting social media on fire as ARMY speculated if the piercing is real.

At The Fact Music Awards 2021, BTS took home five awards: Grand Prize (Daesang), Artist of the Year (Bonsang), Listener’s Choice Award, Fan N Star Most Votes Award, and the U+ Idol Live Popularity Award. This marked the fourth time in a row that BTS won the award show’s Daesang.
BTS also performed their songs “Boy With Luv,” “Butter,” and “Permission to Dance” at The Fact Music Awards 2021. “Boy With Luv” was originally released on the septet’s 2019 EP Map of the Soul: Persona. “Butter” and “Permission to Dance” are both English-language singles that were released in 2021.
At multiple points during the award show, Jungkook appeared to have a new piercing directly underneath his bottom lip. While the piercing was visible, it was unclear if the piercing was real or a stick-on piercing.
BTS fans reacted to Jungkook’s lip piercing
During The Fact Music Awards 2021, BTS fans shared their thoughts about BTS’ performance and appearances at the award show. Multiple fans pointed out that Jungkook’s lip piercing caught their attention.
“Jungkook’s lip piercing actually really fits him. It looks really good on him’ It’s one of the smaller ones too…,” one fan wrote on Reddit.
“Woohoo congrats Bangtan!! And omg Kookie’s lip piercing is real!! This man just continues to do what he wants and I love that for him,” wrote a Reddit user.
One Reddit user wrote, “To see them perform Boy with Luv Everyone looked and sounded amazing and they just looked so happy to be performing that and oh god my kinda brain melted at the close up of Jungkook’s new lip piercing??”
After the award show, a fan wrote on Reddit, “… So the lip piercing is real?!”
Jungkook has not confirmed if the lip piercing is real
On May 21, BTS released “Butter,” their second English-language single. Throughout the “Butter” era, Jungkook appeared to have an eyebrow piercing while promoting the song. However, the BTS singer showed fans in a VLIVE that the piercing was not real and was actually a stick-on piercing.
During a VLIVE on July 29, Jungkook revealed to fans that he decided to actually get his eyebrow pierced. The BTS singer explained that he chose to go through with getting a real eyebrow piercing to avoid constantly having to use the sticker piercings.
So far, Jungkook has not publicly told fans if the new lip piercing is a temporary stick-on piercing or if it is real.
