Whoever said friendships were easy was SERIOUSLY lying. Fights over little things are a natural part of any relationship, but every once in a while a disagreement is just too large to recover from and people go their separate ways. Anyone who has gone through this type of breakup knows that losing a bestie can be just as painful (if not more so) than calling it quits with a boyfriend or girlfriend. What must make it even harder is having to go through such a heartbreaking experience while being in the public eye.
These 15 sets of ex-YouTube-BFFs split with one another while the whole world was watching. While some of these people just grew apart, others went through MAJOR controversies that might mean the bad blood is there for good.
Zoe Sugg & Gabriella Lindley
Zoe and Gabby were the poster children for YouTube BFFs before their massive falling out. It didn’t help that Gab and the 27-year-old’s bae, Alfie Deyes, had a bit of a Twitter feud, too, where the man called the vlogger “immature” for criticizing YT stars who signed up for Vessel, one of YouTube’s competitors.
But according to Gabs, there was no specific reason the friendship fell apart, it just happened. In a video titled “Honesty,” she said, “I had classed her as my absolute best friend. She was the first person that welcomed me…I didn’t have friends, really, until I met Zoe…I got a best friend for once in my life. There has not been a massive argument or like a massive this or that. I think some people just grow apart.”
She also owned up to her actions with a personal message to Zoella saying, “Zoe, I don’t know if you are watching this, but, yes, I do miss you. And I am sorry for distancing myself and maybe not being the best friend at times.” That must’ve been tough.
Andrea Russett & Jenn McAllister
Andrea and JennXPenn were not only BFFs, but also roommates when some crazy drama went down. Although neither have actually stated what caused them to stop talking in 2014, according to fans, they fought over Kian Lawley
Kiandrea broke up around the same time that the 20- and 21-year-old stopped posting videos together and moved into separate apartments. It didn’t help the rumors when Andrea tweeted (and deleted), “When your ex f*cked your best friend. LOL! Relatable.” … That kind of speaks for itself.
During summer ’16, it seems the two tried to bury the hatchet and posted a few cute photos together while at ViDcon. While it’s nice to see the two aren’t actively fighting, it’s pretty clear that they are still FAR from the BFF-status at which they once were.
Amanda Cerny & Lele Pons
Amanda was straight-up SAVAGE when it came to calling out her ex-BFF for all the sketchy shiz she got up to during their friendship. The drama began when the Vine/YouTube star posted a shot of her with the blonde and blurred out her face with the caption, “When you find out who your real friends are,” linking to her most recent YT video.
Basically, Amanda claimed that Lele had been subtly sabotaging her Internet success by deleting posts and setting her profiles to private. The proof is in the pudding — or in this case the screenshots of texts from the 20-year-old where she apologizes for her actions.
Lele wound up calling the police, trying to get the 25-year-old to take down the exposure video for legal reasons, but according to Amanda, “they left laughing saying I gained 2 new fans.” Do you think any friendship could ever get over that level of betrayal?
Trisha Paytas & Arika Sato
Trish and Arika’s friend breakup seems to have happened over the stupidest reason (#sorrynotsorry). As legend goes, Arika forgot that the two had plans, therefore “ditching” the blonde. Despite their former “Best Friend Tag” collaborations (Trish even called the 28-year-old her “ride or die” in an IG post), the dancer promptly cut all ties with her former BFF and as far as we know, the two never spoke again.
Jeffree Star & Kat Von D
Kat Von D and Jeffree Star were thick as thieves until the woman publicly renounced their friendship on social media in a long Instagram post.
“After years of making excuses for, and rationalizing Jeffree’s inappropriate behavior (including, promoting drug use, racism, and bullying) I can no longer hold my tongue after recent events. I know that over the years, many of you were introduced to Jeffree through me, and regardless if you chose to continue to follow him or not, I just would like to disassociate myself from him and his brand from this point on.”
The beauty guru then presented the world with his side of the story, including that he and Kat had hardly talked for almost a year and the 34-year-old was lying about a lot of things.
Channon Rose & Amber Walter
What was supposed to be Channon’s happiest day of her life ended up becoming a nightmare and APPARENTLY it’s all Amber’s fault. Basically, the 31-year-old didn’t want to have any of her guests posting details about her wedding on social media — as a YouTuber she felt it would have made the day less private and therefore, less special. The 19-year-old either didn’t know of this request or specifically ignored it because she actually posted before the ceremony telling people to follow her on Snapchat to see the day’s events. She even ended up posting a YouTube video and pictures of the wedding — which Channon found out after she returned from her honeymoon.
As if that wasn’t bad enough, she also found out that the woman actually stole her bouquet and THOUSANDS of dollars from the wedding cards she received from her friends and family. Recently, CR made a video stating that she’d won the court case against Amber and she’d be forced to pay her $200K
Jeffree Star & Laura Lee
While there’s still a lot we don’t know about the drama that went on between Jeffree Star and Laura Lee, what we do know is that these two are most definitely NOT friends. Well, not anymore, at least.
In a tweet from November 2017, Jeffree alluded to how the beauty community turned into a “ugly place full of evil people.” Of course, people could only speculate about who he was referring to, but later on, Jeffree tweeted and then deleted that Laura’s “soul is pure evil.” YIKES.
Gabriel Zamora & Manny MUA
So, if you’re as obsessed with the drama that goes on in the beauty community as we are, you know all about the photo that Gabriel posted of him, Manny, Laura Lee and Nikita Dragun with their middle fingers up. The photo seemingly threw shade at Jeffree Star, and it was captioned, “B*tch is better because without him we’re doing better.”
Once the photo hit the web, the beauty community went into a downward spiral, and it resulted in Manny MUA having to make, well, several different apologies. According to Gabriel, Manny pressured him to take the heat for the photo. However, Manny also maintains his story that he didn’t know Gabriel was going to throw a shady caption on there.
Still, it seems that Manny still felt at least partially responsible for the photo. How do we know? Because he took to his channel to apologize to Gabriel anyway.
Manny said, “The reason I haven’t talked about this photo, or apologized for this photo, was because I was being prideful and that’s just the f*cking fact of the matter. I was being prideful and I thought to myself, ‘I didn’t do anything wrong. It was a miscommunication. It was a misunderstanding. Why would I apologize for a miscommunication that I had no part of?’ But looking back at the situation, I did have a part of it. I was involved in it.”
Jeffree Star & Manny MUA
In the past, Jeffree and Manny collaborated on a highlighter together, so of course, fans of the online beauty community assumed they were besties. Unfortunately, their friendship was short-lived, and TBH, we still don’t know the whole story!
Even though there are still a lot of blanks that need to be filled in, what we do know is that when Gabriel Zamora posted that photo, which was meant to shade Jeffree, sh*t hit the fan.
In his apology video, which addressed the photo and his relationships with his fellow beauty influencers, Manny addressed his relationship with Jeffree, expressing that he wishes he could “go back and fix things.” Unfortunately, Jeffree did not accept his apology so these two are definitely no longer friends.
Patrick Starrr & Manny MUA

If you’ve been following along with popular beauty influencers for a while, you remember a time when Patrick and Manny showed up on each other’s social feeds regularly. However, at some point that changed, and fans began to notice.
Like many of the other feuds on this list, there’s still a lot we don’t know about why Patrick and Manny are no longer friends, but in Manny’s recent apology video following the middle finger photo scandal, he took some heat for why their friendship fell apart.
Manny said, “I’m not good at confrontation in the slightest. Patrick was hurt by something I did… and for that I am sorry; I am sorry to Patrick.”
At the end of the day, it doesn’t seem like Manny’s apology changed the current status of their relationship. Since the video was posted online, Patrick has gone on to like several shady tweets about Manny, so it doesn’t seem like these two will be reconciling any time soon… or ever.
NikkieTutorials & Jeffree Star
Like many of the other YouTuber’s on this list, fans began to notice that Jeffree and Nikkie drifted apart, and while it’s unclear what exactly happened, he did openly reveal that they’re no longer friends.
After exposing Too Faced Cosmetics for their unfair contract with Nikkie, Jeffree got shade on social media for sticking his head where it doesn’t belong. Of course, he clapped back saying, “Everything nowadays calls everything ‘shady’ when it comes to honesty. Her and I are no longer friends. You can confirm that. But I still respect her hustle, and I watched first-hand how they abused her and know how much she got paid. It’s embarrassing.” Plain and simple!
Jake Paul & The Martinez Twins
If you’re anything like us, your eyes were probably glued to your computer screen when you found out the Martinez twins were quitting Team 10. In a video, the guys explained that their decision to leave was due to Jake’s mistreatment of them when they all lived in the house together.
In the video, Ivan plainly stated, “Jake, you are a bully.”
Emilio elaborated on Ivan’s statement by saying, “You go to somewhere that no one talks Spanish or your language, and you see people in the house laughing, and you don’t even know what they’re talking about. Then you find out they were talking bullsh*t about you, laughing at you, every single day.”
After denying that he ever bullied the Martinez’s, Jake apologized, saying, “First of all, I am so sorry to the Martinez Twins. Nobody should ever feel bullied, and I truly apologize for not doing a better job as a leader, and as a friend. Pure and simple, I owe you guys an apology.” Needless to say, they’re no longer friends.
James Charles & Tana Mongeau
At this point, we’re all well aware of what a disaster Tanacon was. We mean, even Tana herself knew that the event was a total fail. In addition to it not going down as planned, though, Tanacon seemed to be a major reason that Tana and James Charles are not friends anymore.
That’s right, y’all! After the event, James took to Twitter to say, “I told her NOT to do half of the exact things she did yesterday & she didn’t listen, as usual… I’ve tried to make our friendship work for months but she has no respect for other people’s times and I can’t believe you guys CAN’T F-ING RECOGNISE THAT.”
Tana then issued an apology to James and Shane Dawson, thanking them for being real with her. However, it appears that her apology wasn’t enough to salvage the friendship.
Meghan Hughes & Lexie Lombard
Meghan and Lexie used to post a ton of photos together on social media, so obviously, they raised a bunch of eyebrows when they were noticeably absent from each other’s social feeds. To this day, we’re not so sure what happened between these two former besties, but Lexie confirmed it herself.
In a livestream, fans continued to ask her whether or not her and Meghan were still friends. Then and there, she confirmed that they’re no longer besties, answering with a simple, “Nope.” Well, we guess that clears a few things up, but we do wish we had a little more info about what exactly caused the riff.
Christine Sydelko & Elijah Daniel
Considering how close Christine and Elijah once were, fans were totally shook when the YouTube besties had a falling out. In this case, the drama was caused by a disagreement over merch, and when Christine got heat for it from fans over social media, her response made it clear the two were no longer BFFs.
Christine tweeted, “NGL, it’s literally all Elijah’s fault. He said he’d handle merch then ignored all his responsibilities and didn’t fulfill orders so now that I’m finally on my own I went with an actual merch company who will actually do their jobs so you can actually get what you paid for.”
Christine didn’t stop there, though. She went on to say, “Don’t act like a martyr for owning up to something that you were content to ignore until you were called out for it that’s all I’m saying.” WOW.
