‘Younger skin after just one sleep!’ The night creams loved by the Real Beauty Awards

Who wouldn’t want to wake up to younger, fresher, smoother skin? That’s exactly what real women saw in the morning mirror, after testing night creams for our Real Beauty Awards 2021.

The OK! beauty team handpicked this year’s most exciting overnight formulas, and sent each shortlisted product to five women to try.

We then used their feedback – and absolutely nothing else – to choose the winners of the Real Beauty Awards.

Premium night creams (£40+)

WINNER: Meder Beauty Circa-Night Cream, £98 here

Loved by every tester, this “bio-hacking” cream lived up to the promise of delivering the look of eight hours sleep.

Tester says: “I have a lot of fine lines around and under my eyes, and they seem massively improved by this cream. My skin was firmer, plumper, lifted and brighter. In the morning I felt like my skin had been cleansed overnight. My colleagues commented that my skin looks really healthy.”

HIGHLY COMMENDED: Allies of Skin Retinal & Peptides Repair Overnight Mask, £105 here

Thrilled testers were won over after just one sleep – and things kept on getting better…

Tester says: “From the first morning, I knew that this was going to be a 'glowing' report because that perfectly describes my skin after just one night. After four weeks, my skin appeared plumped, with lines and wrinkles much less visible. I was told, ‘Your skin is looking good!’ My foundation went on more smoothly and I needed less of it. Amazing.”

HIGHLY COMMENDED: Arbonne AgeWell Intense Repairing Night Cream with 2% Bakuchiol, £75 here

So good at creating the illusion of well-rested skin, testers were asked if they’d been on holiday.

Tester says: “Because I generally lack a good night's sleep, my skin often looks dull. This cream made it look more alive, my fine lines seemed plumped and I looked brighter around the eyes. My partner said that he doesn't know how I do it, but I seem to be looking younger these days! A couple of friends have also asked my secret, which of course I shared.”

Mass market night creams (under £40)

WINNER: Fenty Skin Instant Reset Overnight Recovery Gel-Cream, £36 here

Rihanna’s brand may be best known for its amazing foundations but this cream proves its no slouch at skincare. Every tester got a real glow from it.

Tester says: “I suffer from extremely dry skin but even after using this cream once it was so much better in the morning. After four weeks I saw a massive difference in lines and wrinkles. I had softer, brighter skin and I looked more relaxed, like I’d slept better. My mother made a comment saying my skin looked better. 10/10.”

HIGHLY COMMENDED: Q+A Chamomile Night Cream, £12 here

A budget cream with premium results, according to the vast majority of our testers – one even thought the chamomile had helped them sleep better!

Tester says: “Even though I always use a night cream, my skin can still look tired in the morning but from the first use of this, my skin looked more rested. I have horrid forehead wrinkles and they look less deep after using this product for over four weeks. My partner, and several customers at work, said I was looking great and that my skin was looking really nice.”

HIGHLY COMMENDED:Super Facialist Hexapeptide 9 Anti-Ageing Advanced Rejuvenating Night Cream, £18.75 here

There is lots to love about this cream, from the cocooning feel and relaxing scent to the line-smoothing effect after four weeks.

Tester says: “This is THE most softening night cream I've ever tried – my skin felt like velvet from the very first use. It had a very good effect on lines. I just generally looked brighter and more refreshed, as if I'd had a brilliant night's sleep, every night. My husband commented on how soft my skin felt and how well rested I seemed.”
