It’s one of the hardest parts of any make-up routine, but one innovative beauty brand is promising to put an end to messy mascara application once and for all.

Woosh Beauty’s mascara shield can be used to guard the lid and under-eye area from transfer marks, while separating lashes thanks to a clever comb detail.

Designed to work on both the upper and lower lashes, the curved shape of the plastic tool can also help to enhance the curl – and it’s winning over British beauty fans.

The simple tool has even been dubbed ‘genius’ by the prestigious British Beauty Council.

A post on the independent beauty authority’s Instagram account read: ‘[We love] innovation – it’s one of the three pillars we support as part of our strategy to champion the British beauty industry – so our hearts leaped when we spotted a Mascara Shield by Woosh Beauty.’

It’s high praise indeed from the group, which was set up by respected industry experts including entrepreneur Millie Kendall MBE, former Vogue beauty editor Anna-Marie Solowij and journalist Kate Shapland.

The gadget has proved a hit with Instagram users, too. ‘This is the best invention… love it, I use it everyday!’ wrote one fan online.

Others commented: ‘I need this,’ ‘This is sort of genius. I have curly lashes and I have this problem!’ and ‘Omg didn’t know owt like this exists. I’m forever getting mascara on my lid.’

The mascara shield is available to buy separately or in a set with the Woosh Beauty Flex and Curl mascara that features a bendy wand to help reach inner corner lashes.

They’re not the only problem-solving creations from the all-female owned and operated US company, which also boasts Adele’s make-up artist Michael Ashton as an Instagram follower.

Claiming to ‘make incredible, time-saving tools that no one else makes,’ it also offers liquid eyeliners that can be ‘rolled’ on and lip glosses with spinning applicators for a more even coverage.

While little known in the UK, the products can be bought in Ulta stores in the US or shipped to the UK for an added fee.
