Who says you need to find a partner to get married?
Kshama Bindu just got hitched… to herself.
The 24-year-old, from India, believes she could be her country's first ever solo bride.
She told the Times of India: “I never wanted to get married. But I did want to become a bride. So I decided to marry myself."
And a statement to Press Trust of India, she revealed plans to carry out all of the wedding traditions without her groom.
Kshama added: “At one point in my life, I realised that I don’t require a prince charming because I am my own queen.
“I will dress up like a bride, take part in rituals, my friends will attend my wedding and then I will come back to my house instead of going with the groom."
Kshama even wants to have a honeymoon by herself.
She has planned a two-week holiday in Goa to celebrate "self love".
The unconventional bride said: “It is also an act of self-acceptance. People marry someone they love. I love myself and hence this wedding.”
Previously, we revealed that Kshama had been branded an "attention seeker" for planning the solo wedding.
One Twitter user said: "Stop doing s*** just for attention."
And another wrote: “Break the marriage stereotype too… But I guess then you won’t be able to make it to the news. All in the name of modernisation and publicity.”
Despite the backlash, she has reportedly gone ahead with the plans.
According to the Independent, she got hitched on Wednesday (June 8) and posted footage from the ceremony on social media.
