Woah! See Sarah Michelle Gellar's Mario Kart-Themed Cake for Son Rocky

Sarah Michelle Gellar knows how to celebrate a birthday in style. The Buffy the Vampire Slayer alum marked her son Rocky Prinze’s sixth birthday on Saturday, October 20, with a party at Dave & Busters and a cake that’s truly in a league of its own.

The actress, 41, showed off the one-of-a-kind confection on her Instagram Stories on Sunday, October 21, revealing a Mario Kart-themed cake that would fill any video game fan with glee. The colorful dessert featured three tiers of fondant-covered goodness and a spiraling road with Mario and Luigi racing up to the top. However, the real winner was Rocky, who is Gellar’s second child with husband Freddie Prinze Jr., since a car with his face on it topped the unique creation.

The impressive cake, which she dubbed “the most incredible cake EVER,” was made by SHOWBOY BakeShop in Las Vegas. The bakery, which has won Food Network’s Cake Wars and has been featured on Cupcake Wars, specializes in unique desserts just like Rocky’s Mario Kart creation.

In addition to Mario and Luigi, the sweet treat also had several intricate details such as realistic banana peels, coins and Bob-ombs that are familiar to any Mario Kart fan.

It’s not surprising that Gellar pulled out all the stops to celebrate her son’s birthday, though. The Cruel Intentions star cofounded a company called Foodstirs, which sells clean baking kits and mixes and aims to make memorable experiences in the kitchen for families, in 2014. “The kids’ involvement is really important. You want to show the next generation of creators and content makers, or any kind of maker, that they can do it,” Gellar told CNBC in 2017. “For them to be able to watch us have an idea and have it physical and make it successful and watch it grow, that’s the most important lesson we can impart on them.”

Gellar and the 24 actor, who married in September 2002, are also parents of daughter Charlotte, 9.
