Why is Holly Willoughby missing from This Morning? Everything you need to know

Holly Willoughby has been missing from our screens this week, and fans have been left missing the star as a result.

Holly, 40, can normally be seen presenting ITV's flagship daytime show This Morning, but this week Josie Gibson has stepped in to replace her.

Josie and Phillip Schofield have become a presenting duo in Holly's absence, but the blonde beauty has now updated fans about her whereabouts.

So, just where is Holly this week? Let's take a look…

Why isn't Holly Willoughby on This Morning?

Taking to Instagram, Holly shared a sweet picture of her cat.

The caption read: "Good morning… My name is Bluebell, sadly Holly won’t be able to come out to play on @thismorning today as she is still under the weather… seriously what I’ve witnessed over the last 48 hours you wouldn’t want her there…"

She continued: "I’m sure she’ll be back on Monday… Honestly I’m sick of the sight of her!"

Holly's replacement, Josie, has taken to her Instagram stories to will the star back on the show.

"I've had to have a lie down, this presenting business. Holly, Phil, you make it look so easy," Josie said while lying on a bed.

She continued: "Holly I know you're ill, and everyone is allowed to be ill, but can you hurry up and get back, there's only so long I can wing it for."

Addressing Holly's absence, Phillip told viewers earlier this week: "Holly is not here today because she has a tummy bug.

"Nothing more than that, so she'll be back here tomorrow."

The pair revealed that Josie was on the way to filming the show's competition segment elsewhere when she got the call that she was needed in the studio instead.

The former Big Brother star joked that she thought the show's producers got the wrong number when she was asked to stand in for Holly.

Holly has thanked Josie for "saving the day" and penned on her stories: "Thank you @josiegibson85 for saving the day yesterday… you are a dream!

"… I'll be back as soon as I'm in no threat of vomiting on @schofe," followed by a sick emoji.

Josie recently shared how a former guest of the programme had shared her prediction that this would be happening.

Margaret, 80, a widow from Devon, first phoned into the show in November 2020 to express how isolated she felt after her dog Teddy had died and said she would give anything to go for a walk with someone on Christmas Day.

Josie then went down to visit Margaret and the pair spent the weekend together – and have kept in touch ever since.

The star, who recently said she dropped three dress sizes to get fit for her son, explained to Phillip: "I don't know if you remember Margaret, she was on our show, she was lonely and we went for a walk.

"I always check in on her, so I always give her a ring to find out how she is and last night I phoned her to find out how she was."

Phillip questioned: "So you still keep in touch?" to which Josie replied: "Yeah! Margaret is such a character, she's so lovely and has such a good show so I gave her a call last night and you know what she said?"

Josie continued: "She said, 'Josie, you know I'm quite spiritual.' She said, 'You're going to get a call and you're going to be presenting This Morning,' and I laughed like a drain. That was last night and this morning I had the phone call."
