Why ‘Bachelorette’ Clare Crawley kept her Juan Pablo Galavis breakup dress

Clare Crawley has (almost) left her breakup with Juan Pablo Galavis in the past.

The new “Bachelorette” won hearts across America in 2014 when she made it to the final two on Galavis’ season; she was eventually rejected in favor of the younger Nikki Ferrell.

Now, 38-year-old Crawley has revealed she still has the blue dress she wore during the infamous finale moment.

“Cleaning out closets today… look familiar?!,” she captioned her now-expired Instagram Story. “Fun fact: the entire zipper is shredded and unusable because I ripped this dress off as soon as I got into the car.”

“2 reasons I kept it: 1) Cary [Fetman, the franchise’s longtime stylist] hand-beaded this and it meant the world to me,” she wrote. “2) It was the most empowering moment of my life.”

Crawley memorably fired back at Galavis after he made a lewd comment during their one-on-one date.

“I lost respect for you,” she told him during their breakup. “Because, I’ll tell you what, I thought I knew what kind of man you were, what you just made me go through, I would never want my children having a father like you.”

She previously called the moment she stood up to the soccer player “life-changing,” saying, “When my season ended, it was the biggest blessing in my life. I stood up for myself in a way that I had never done in any relationship before, or even in life.”

Since then, the former couple have also exchanged shady comments on social media, with Galavis commenting on the young ages of the contestants on Crawley’s upcoming season.

Crawley also appeared on “The Bachelor Winter Games,” and was engaged to Benoît Beauséjour-Savard for just two months before calling it quits.

Filming for her season of “The Bachelorette” has been postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
