Watch Argos' Christmas advert 2019 featuring a crowd surfing toy bear and its 'book of dreams'

EVERYONE remembers flicking through the Argos catalogue writing a list for Santa as a child.

It's part of the magic of Christmas, so it's surprising that Argos has never centred its festive advert around it.

This year, the retailer has given the famous catalogue – which has been around for 46 years – a starring role, by renaming it "The Book of Dreams".

Its Christmas advert – the first of 2019 to be released –  features a dad picking out a drumkit from the catalogue which magically appears, transforming the kitchen into his own private gig.

Speakers appear, dry ice pours out of the fridge as he plays a long to 80s classic, Don't You Forget About me by Simple Minds.

The dad is soon joined by his daughter, as they perform at a gig of a lifetime.

Then Cubby the Curious Bear – tipped to be one of the most popular toys this year – leaps off the stage and crowd surfs.

The advert airs tonight – Friday November 1 – during ITV's Coronation Street and Channel 4's Googlebox.

But you can watch the advert here before it goes out on telly tonight.

The campaign is set to include social media posts from celebrities about their own book of dreams from when they were young.

Argos has also created a website where you can look at catalogues from the last four decades.

The retailer first opened a shop in 1973 and now it has 1,200 branches and employs 30,000 staff.

In 2017, the retailer trialled removing its famous catalogue from some branches as it said more shoppers were heading online.

The most hotly anticipated advert of the year – John Lewis – usually drops in the first two weeks of November.
