Doughnuts aren’t normally scary, but one store in Texas is looking to change that. In honor of Halloween, Hurts Donut in Katy, Texas, plans to sell its namesake offering in a very unique way.
Instead of simply decorating its doughnuts with witches or ghosts, Hurts plans to have the sweet treats hand-delivered by scary clowns starting on Sunday, October 1. Hurts teased the unique promotion on Facebook on Tuesday, September 25, writing, “Wanna scare the sh… shprinkles out of your friends!?
SCARY CLOWN DELIVERIES!”
The post included a collage of four photos featuring the scary clowns all modeled after Pennywise from It, a film adaptation of the Stephen King novel of the same name. The clowns, complete with face paint, are shown carrying red balloons and boxes of doughnuts.
Still, as horrifying as this delivery method may be, many social media users were on board. “This would be wonderful,” wrote one Facebook user. Another added, “[There are] so many people I would love to send these to!”
Believe it or not, this isn’t the first time Hurts has used a scary clown to ferry doughnuts around the Lone Star State, and though the Facebook comments suggest otherwise, getting goodies delivered by a Pennywise look-alike is scary for some.
In 2017, a Twitter user shared she was the victim of an unexpected doughnut delivery, writing, “My sister just paid a clown to come to my school & chase me through the halls & delivered me hurts donuts. I have never ran so fast.”
What’s more? This year, Hurts is offering customers a chance to win a dozen donuts complete with scary clown delivery.
