Tesco is selling salted caramel doughnuts – and they're topped with GOLD sugar

The doughnuts are round without a hole in the middle and are topped with dark chocolate icing and gold crunchy sugar shards.

They come in a pack of two which will cost you £1.15 – or £58p each.

That's pricey for doughnuts as you can pick up a bag of five jam or custard-filled treats for 65p at the supermarket, which works out as just 13p each.

But it is Christmas after all – and salted caramel fans are very excited about the new treats.

They were first spotted on Tesco's shelves by Instagram account Newfoodsuk, which snapped a photo of the indulgent desserts.

One doughnut fan commented: "Ffs meant to be on a diet."

Another wrote: "Oh my days @_lu_lu_hodg!!! Never be thin again!!"

One even said: "I don’t like donuts but even id [sic] eat these."

It's not clear how many calories the treats contain yet but we've asked Tesco to fill us in and we'll update this story when we hear back.

Krispy Kreme has launched Halloween doughnuts with orange or apple-flavour icing.

Meanwhile Tesco has also launched a festive unicorn cake for Christmas, which looks adorable.

If your sweet tooth is still not satisfied, Hershey's is doing a Cookies and Creme flavour advent calendar this year.
