Tesco could be making MAJOR changes to their Clubcard system

Supermarket giant Tesco tested giving Clubcard customers lower prices at the checkout in a week-long trial.

The scheme, which ended yesterday, was trialled at 50 stores picked at random across 20 products.

According to The Sunday Times, the store did this trial as they plan to launch an Amazon Prime-like loyalty scheme.

The publication reports that chief Dave Lewis wants to introduce greater incentives for shoppers.

It could be linked to the Tesco Pay+ app, operated by Tesco Bank, which allows customers to collect points while making payments.

However, it’s unclear exactly how the trial worked, but shoppers may have seen prices drop after scanning their Clubcard.

Amazon ran a similar trial in the US last year, which saw Prime customers getting discounts on a range of items.

Unlike Tesco’s Clubcard system, shoppers pay a membership fee for Amazon which gives them access to online streaming and free delivery.

Back in February, customers were told they could be owed hundreds in Clubcard vouchers.

Martin Lewis’ Money Saving Expert website revealed that users retrieved as much as £33,502 in lost Tesco vouchers.

Here’s how to reclaim lost Clubcard points:

1. Log into the Tesco Clubcard website and check for unspent vouchers

2. To log in you’ll need a Tesco account, so make sure you’re registered first

3. You’ll see a tab saying “my vouchers” and this will list the ones you still have to spend

4. You can print the vouchers to use them in store or use the code listed and spend online
