Selfridges has become the first department store to unveil its Christmas window display – two months ahead of the big day.
The retailer has gone for a ‘Selfridges Rocks Christmas’ theme this year, which shows Santa dressed up in an assortment of different rock outfits.
The windows in London also references the Blondie song ‘Hangin On The Telephone’, with a Debbie Harry-inspired mannequin in one of the windows.
Selfridges says it is the first in the world to reveal its festive windows, after the retailer defied the summer heatwave to open its Christmas shop at the beginning of August.
The department store said more than 100 people had worked on non-stop rotated shifts over the past eight days to prepare the windows for the unveiling today.
Selfridges stores in London, Birmingham and Manchester now feature more than 85,000 baubles hung from balconies and ceilings, and 200 Christmas trees.
