Speaking to FEMAIL, Megan explained the salon had not conducted a patch test, as is expected when trying a new product on someone’s skin.

The beautician also did not apply tape on her bottom lid to protect her eye from the glue.

Accompanied by her boyfriend, Megan returned to the salon later that day to complain.

She said: ‘When my boyfriend asked what glue they used, a lady in the salon said that is for nails! The woman just kept apologising.’

The post prompted other beauty fans to share their own horror stories. Others urged Megan to go to the hospital to ensure there is no lasting damage to her eyes

The salon offered her a free treatment as compensation but she declined.

The beauty fan said her eyes are ‘recovering well’ but remain ‘sensitive’ and ‘sore’.

She added: ‘My first bit if advice would be make sure you always carry out a glue test.

‘And second of all ask the beautician what glue they use ask to see it and definitely read up on it online, no pretty long eyelashes are worth your eyesight.
