The royal family’s official Twitter account has sparked hilarity by accidentally referring to Princess Eugenie’s fiancé as ‘Mr Jacksbrook’.

The typo, which appears to be an amalgamation of Jack and Brooksbank, appeared in a tweet sharing details about the couple’s wedding on Friday.

Posted shortly after midday, it read: ‘Princess Eugenie and Mr. Jacksbrook have invited people from the charities they support into the grounds of Windsor Castle tomorow – to help celebrate their wedding day’.

According to BuzzFeed News, it took around 40 minutes for the tweet to be deleted and then reissued with the correct spelling.

But eagle-eyed fans had already spotted the typo, with one amused follower tweeting: ‘I believe “Bank Jacksbrook” is his super secret spy name.’

Another penned: ‘Mr Jacksbrook? Er… close!’ while a third wrote: ‘Think they mean Jack Brooksbank. Close enough.’

The tweet was part of an announcement about the representatives from 13 charities who have been invited to Windsor Castle tomorrow to share in the couple’s celebrations.

Princess Eugenie and her fiancé Jack will marry at St George’s Chapel at 11am next Friday, followed by a 15-minute carriage procession down part of Windsor High Street

Photos taken today reveal the extensive preparations being carried out ahead of the high-profile event, with police dog handlers sweeping the streets and local officials erecting crowd control barriers in anticipation of the influx of visitors tomorrow.

Following the lead of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who married at St George’s Chapel in May, Eugenie and Jack invited members of the public to apply to join the celebrations in the grounds of Windsor Castle.

They sifted through the roughly 10,000 applications and sent out 1,200 invitations to deserving charity workers, community leaders, Royal Household staff and pupils from Princess Eugenie’s former schools.

Making the announcement on the Duke of York Twitter page, a spokesperson said: ‘The Wedding of Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank takes place tomorrow!
