Princess Anne’s body language shows Camilla changed relationship with Prince Charles

Camilla left ‘intimidated’ by Princess Anne says royal expert

Princess Anne, 70, is the only daughter of Queen Elizabeth II, 94, and Prince Philip, 99. She often represents the monarch at events with other royals including Prince Charles, 72, and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, 73.

With more than 50 years of attending engagements behind her, it is no surprise Princess Anne is often considered the hardest working royal.

The Princess Royal has not shied away from duties and taken part in many engagements over the years.

She is the younger sister of Prince Charles, who is also a working royal and first in line to the British throne.

Over the years, and before the coronavirus lockdown, the royal siblings would attend events together.

Body language expert Judi James commented on their relationship and claimed they have some key differences.

She stated: “Growing up he and Anne perfectly defined the chalk-and-cheese sibling relationship, with Charles suffering through his school years while Anne just got on with things.

“As Charles adopted a more academic approach to the life of a future King, Anne became a successful, no-nonsense sportswoman alongside her regular royal duties.”

She claimed they had different interests but appear to have bonded over a shared sense of duty.

Princess Anne’s bond with her sister-in-law, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall may have also helped change and improve her relationship with Charles.

“Anne and Charles will probably never be the closest brother and sister, but they are beginning to look as though shared goals in terms of their love and sense of duty to their mother and a desire to sustain the image of the royal firm have brought them closer together,” Judi added.

“Given their past histories, with Anne having dated Camilla’s ex husband, the relationship between Anne and Camilla might have been difficult, creating a bigger rift between Charles and his sister.

“But in fact the two women seem very tolerant of one another to the point of often looking like old friends, and this might have created an easing in the relationship between the siblings.

“Anne has never shown signs of being particularly close to her brother Charles, but she does seem to share a natural friendship that could even border on a daughter/mother bond with Camilla.”

Before she married her first husband, Princess Anne briefly dated Andrew Parker Bowles.

Many years later, he married Camilla and the couple divorced in 1995.

Both dating Andrew in the past has not appeared to get in the way of their relationship and they seem to be good friends, Judi suggested.

During one outing together at the races, Princess Anne and Camilla showed their affection.

“Their touch rituals in public are telling,” Judi explained.

“One meeting at a racecourse shows both women wearing what look like delighted smiles and eye contact and Anne has extended one hand palm-up, which Camilla has then placed her own hand over in a sign of affection.

“The affection isn’t one-sided either, Anne’s fingers are curled up around Camilla’s thumb in a reciprocal gesture.”
