Pizza Hut customers paying almost DOUBLE after Dealbot misses out top discounts

PIZZA Hut fans could be paying DOUBLE for takeaways after being ‘misled’ on discounts, says Which? 

When you place a Pizza Hut order via its website a Dealbot pops up and promises to find customers the "best" discounts. 

But when 70 orders were checked it frequently failed to find the best discount available, according to an investigation by Which?. 

In some cases customers could be paying up to 45% more than offers which appear elsewhere on its website. 

In the worst case scenario, Which? found a missed saving of £11.18, making the total cost almost double the price. 

On an order of medium BBQ meat feast, Italian style cheese and tomato bits, Robinson refresh’d apple and raspberry 500ml, the Dealbot suggested a price of £24.67. 

But when the same items were ordered via Pizza Hut’s deals page using the £13.49 individual deal it came to £13.49 – a 45% discount. 

“Our research found that Pizza Hut’s Dealbot often misses some of the best offers available – meaning customers who think they are getting the best deal could be missing out,” Adam French from Which? said.

He added: “It’s encouraging to hear Pizza Hut wants to make improvements to the system but it must take immediate action to make it clear that while Dealbot might find some discounts, there could be better offers on its ‘Deals’ page.

"If it doesn’t do this then Dealbot should be taken offline while it is improved."

When the Dealbot pops up it offers to find discounts for customers – and you can opt in or out. 

If you activate it, a message appears in your empty basket saying it will “automatically find you the best deal”. 

A spokesperson from Pizza Hut said: “We are looking into ways of developing the technology on our website to meet the needs of our consumers and ensure they really do get the best deals, which includes improving the functionality of this particular system.”

How to find the best Pizza Hut deals 

Visiting the Pizza Hut deals page is the best way to find discounts. 

These deals are very specific – but if you fancy them then it’s best to order via this page. 

It’s also worth searching for discount codes on sites like and HotUKDeals. 

Signing up to newsletters is also a good way to get alerted about discounts that might be suitable for you. 

It comes as Brits reportedly spend £1,200 a year each on weekly takeaways.

If you are after a legitimate deal, families dining out this August can treat the kids to free meals at Tesco and Morrisons, and discounts from Hungry Horse and Farmhouse Inns.

Meanwhile, those dining-in at the restaurant instead, will be pleased to know it's brought back the self-serve buffet and ice cream factory.
