Pete Davidson’s ‘SNL’ co-star Kenan Thompson thinks Dan Crenshaw joke crossed the line

It’s not just Sean Spicer and the subject of the jab himself, ex-Navy SEAL-turned-GOP-congressional candidate Dan Crenshaw, who think Pete Davidson’s joke crossed the line. The comedian’s fellow “Saturday Night Live” cast member Kenan Thompson believes so too.

Thompson, who voices a character in “The Grinch,” stopped by NBC’s
“Today” to promote the animated movie. He was also asked about Davidson’s quip during “Weekend Update” Saturday in which he equated the looks of wounded veteran Crenshaw to “a hitman in a porno movie.” Davidson followed with: “I’m sorry, I know he lost his eye in war, or whatever.”

When asked if Davidson crossed the line on “Today,” Thompson said, “It definitely seems it.”

Thompson added that since his father served in the Vietnam War, he personally would “never” go there, but he added “stand-ups feel like there’s no real filters out there in the world, when they’re trying to go for a great joke or whatever, and we try to respect that.
