‘New Girl’ Cast to Reunite for 10th Anniversary at Variety’s Virtual TV Fest

Variety is pleased to announce programming for its second annual TV Fest on June 8-10. Keynote conversations include a “New Girl” 10th Anniversary reunion, a conversation with Netflix’s Global Head of TV Bela Bajaria, plus Queen Latifah and producer Debra Martin Chase.

“New Girl” creator Elizabeth Meriwether and stars Zooey Deschanel, Max Greenfield, Jake Johnson, Lamorne Morris and Hannah Simone will reunite to share stories about their work on the show and discuss its continued influence on today’s comedy series.

Queen Latifah will be joined by producer Debra Martin Chase to talk about their collaboration on the CBS hit drama, “The Equalizer.”

Bajaria will speak to how she and her team lead, develop, produce and acquire Netflix programming worldwide.

A “Supporting Actor Roundtable” will feature Hannah Waddingham (“Ted Lasso”), Nicola Coughlan (“Bridgerton”), Michael K. Williams (“Lovecraft Country”), Anthony Ramos (“In Treatment”), Rosie Perez (“The Flight Attendant”) and Courtney B. Vance (“Genius”).

Other highlights include a conversation with philanthropist, entrepreneur, author and producer Bethenny Frankel and a “TV Origin Story: From Page to Screen” panel, featuring authors Kristin Hannah (“Firefly Lane”); Jenny Han (“To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before”); Julia Quinn (“Bridgerton”); Lindy West (“Shrill: Notes From a Loud Woman”); and Natalie Baszile (“Queen Sugar”).

Additionally, Variety will honor Bonnie Hammer, vice chairman at NBCUniversal with the TV Fest Legacy Award. The award will be preceded by a panel conversation featuring Pearlena Igbokwe, chairman, Universal Studio Group; Susan Rovner, chairman, entertainment content, NBCUniversal television and streaming; and Frances Berwick, chairman, Entertainment Networks, NBCUniversal television and streaming.

Variety’s popular tentpole, “A Night In The Writers’ Room”, will be the evening programming of the TV Fest and features panels with this year’s Emmy-contending writers in drama, comedy and limited series/movie categories.

The virtual experience is free to attend with registration but availability is limited. Guests may interact in a series of “rooms” including a lobby, exhibition hall, exhibitor booths and theater.

A Night in the Writer’s Room lineup and additional panels will be announced shortly.
