My partner has been using different identities to have random sex with other women and I'm distraught

He is 44, I am 42. We have been together for 15 years and our children are 14 and eight. The emails showed he had different identities and for years had been meeting random women for sex.

He broke down when I confronted him, blaming the neglect he suffered in his childhood, as his parents were drinkers. He says he loves me and is glad I found out so the spell is broken.

He wants us to move forward and be happy but I can’t get my head around it.
DEIDRE SAYS: You must feel like you have been living with a stranger all this time.

For your children’s sake initially – but also for yours long-term – it is worth trying to understand and see if you can forgive him, though of course you can’t simply forget.

Say you can’t just “move forward and be happy”. He must work hard to convince you he loves you and find help to understand and change his sexual addiction.

He can find support at Sex Addicts Anonymous (saauk.info, 07599 917686)
