If you have a synthetic model, it should be replaced as often as every six to 12 months, while if you have a down pillow, you’re looking at every two to three years.
To check whether your pillow has expired, Chantel recommends trying a simple ‘bounce back’ test.
Fold your pillow in half on a surface, then hold it folded for 30 seconds.
‘Pillows should bounce back if fresh,’ Chantel said.
If they don’t bounce back, it probably means it’s time to invest in a new model.

‘Thanks for the tip – going to check mine right now,’ another added.
Some said that they wash their pillows regularly, and asked whether this is enough.
‘It’s definitely still important to wash your pillows quarterly,’ Chantel said.
However, if you own synthetic pillows and haven’t replaced them in more than a year, it is likely they have expired.

Previously, she revealed the inexpensive ways you can make your bedroom ‘look and feel’ like a hotel, and her simple trick to remove the creases in your sheets without having to iron them.
The first is by sprinkling half a cup of bicarbonate soda and four drops of the essential oil of your choice on to your mattress.
Chantel uses Dream Drops by Eco Modern Essentials, which contains a ‘restful blend’ of scents comprising lavender, geranium and ylang ylang.
‘Then, leave the mixture on the mattress for one hour and vacuum off the excess to leave it smelling amazing,’ Chantel said.

The second way you can make your bedroom look and smell incredible is when you put on clean sheets.
‘Spray plain tap water from a spray bottle when you tuck your sheets to remove the wrinkles without ironing,’ Chantel said.
Focus on the areas with the most wrinkles and pull the sheets taut when you’re spraying the water.
The reason why this works is because the water targets the wrinkles and gently loosens any crinkles that formed in the washing machine.
It is often used in hotels to save on time and ironing.

‘Opt for lighter linen, clothes and cushions to make your room feel cosy and bright,’ Chantel explained.
Light colours make a room seem more spacious and modern, unlike dark colours which can close the room and make it seem smaller and old-fashioned.
