A mom of two made a shocking discovery when she compared her nine month old son’s clothes to her size 3T daughter’s clothes and found her daughter’s clothes were smaller than her son’s despite her son being younger.
Physician assistant and TikToker Anne, who goes by @annethepa on TikTok, took to social media to share a video of herself comparing the clothing sizes of her children’s clothes.
Anne showed how there is a clear issue with toddlers’ clothing as the girls clothes are measured to be smaller than the boy’s clothing, despite the tag reading the same size or a smaller size.
Anne’s video quickly racked over 1.1 million views, which prompted her to make multiple follow up videos comparing the children’s clothing at both Walmart and Target.
The mom of two found the issue remained the same no matter the brand or store, causing TikTokers to flood her comments section with fits of outrage.

And don’t try to tell me “boys run bigger” #fyp #duetthis #bodyimage
‘If anyone is wondering why girls have body image issues, these are my daughter’s shorts,’ Anne says in the beginning of her video while she laid out a pair of 3T shorts.
Atop the 3T shorts, Anne placed her son’s nine months shorts, revealing that both are identical in size despite the difference in the children’s ages.
To show isn’t just a one-time thing, Anne pulled out another set of shorts, this time her daughter’s 2T shorts and her son’s nine months shorts.
Again, Anne had the same result. The boys’ shorts were even slightly longer than the girls shorts.
‘This is not ok,’ Anne noted in her viral video.
After receiving a couple of comments from users who claimed the size difference was due to the clothing being ‘different brands,’ Anne decided to show viewers the problem in real time.
In one follow up video, which racked up over 1.6 million views, Anne went to Walmart this time to prove her findings.
The mom of two grabbed three pairs of girls’ shorts, all different sizes.
One pair was a 4T, one was 18 months and the last was three months.
While she was at Walmart, Anne made an even more shocking find and showed viewers how the boys’ shorts increased in length as the grew older while the girls’ shorts didn’t change.
Anne then showed the clothing side by side, further pointing out how much longer the boys’ shorts were than the girls’ shorts, despite being the same size.
Her next video showed the physician assistant at Target where she pulled out two girls’ shorts and two boys’ shorts, both sized at 12 months.
The mom laid the girls’ shorts atop the boys’ shorts and found that the ‘boys Bermuda shorts are still longer than the girls Bermuda shorts.’
She then pulled out two t-shirts, one boys’ and girls’, both size 18 months.
She then showed how the boys’ shirt was much wider and longer than the girls’ shirt despite them being aged the same.
She added that Target offers more ‘gender neutral’ clothing options and said parents should shop in the boys section if they are looking for ‘longer’ clothing and in the girls section if they are looking for ‘shorter’ clothing.
TikTokers were outraged by the mom’s discovery and took to her comments section to share their frustration.
TikTok users were sent into a fit of outrage as they couldn’t believe their eyes, with one user even noting she stopped shopping in the girls section
‘I have one girl in 4T, 1 girl in 12-18 months. When I’m folding laundry I have to look at the tag with the shorts! They can wear each others most times,’ said one user.
Another user added: ‘As kids, boys aren’t bigger! As an elementary school teacher, I notice that the girls are usually bigger than the boys until around HS in a lot of cases!’
One user said: ‘I stopped buying them shorts/pants from the girls section. The clothes are skin tight and super short.’
Another user commented: ‘The fact that there is barely a difference between 18 months and 4T girls!!!’
‘Why wouldn’t baby clothes be unisex, there’s absolutely no physical difference between them for quite a while,’ wrote another user.
