She didn’t even have to mull it over.

Miley Cyrus joked on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” that her famous family is “genetically” predisposed to rocking mullets.

When the 26-year-old “Plastic Hearts” singer was unable go to a hair salon amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, she turned to her mother, Tish Cyrus, to give her a “modern mullet” in May.

“I already had bangs and they were getting long,” she explained.

“And [my mom] said, ‘Well I can cut your hair, but I only know how to do one hairstyle, and I’ve been doing this since 1992 for your dad and for your brothers.’ And all my mom can do is a mullet, so I had one option and needed it.”

She went on to joke that the mullet is “just kind of a natural shape that [our family’s] hair grows in.”

As Miley’s hair continues to evolve, she’s also embarking on a new era when it comes to her style. She reminisced with Kimmel about the time she wore nipple pasties on his show in 2015, pointing out that this time, she opted for a simple black sweater.

“Bought my first sweater so I thought I’d wear it to show you how much I’ve grown,” she quipped.

While her style has transformed throughout her career, the “Prisoner” singer’s many tattoos are one thing that will likely remain permanent.

The pop star admitted to the host that she has “no idea” how many tats she’s got in total.

“You are probably much more coherent when I am getting these tattoos than I am,” she joked, when Kimmel asked how fans seemingly know more about her 74 tattoos than she does.

The former Disney star recently told Howard Stern that while many look to her hair as a “monitor” for her sanity and sobriety, their perceptions are not always accurate.

If you’re considering a chop of your own, Cyrus’ hairstylist Sally Hershberger recently shared tips for at-home haircuts with Page Six Style.
