Mickey Rourke, Mark Dacascos to Star in ‘Jade’ for Stuntman-Director James Bamford (EXCLUSIVE)

Rising star Shaina West will take the title role in “Jade,” an upcoming action-thriller that sets Mickey Rourke as an adversary and Mark Dacascos as a former FBI ally. The film is the feature debut of stuntman-turned producer and director James Bamford.

Hong Kong-, Paris- and Los Angeles-based All Rights Entertainment will handle rights sales and present the film to buyers at the upcoming pre-Cannes virtual market and at the Cannes Market.

“Jade” presents the story of a woman who comes between a powerful businessman and a gang leader in their search for a hard drive that could damage the operations of Interpol. Despite grieving for the sister she accidentally killed, the woman is required to use her unique set of skills to retrieve the drive and protect her unborn child being carried by another woman.

Bamford worked for eight years at Warner Bros Television in stunt and directing roles and picked up 150 stunt credits on shows including “Berlantiverse” and “The X-Files,” and movies including “Blade Trinity,” “2012,” and “Aliens vs Predator.” As a Gersch-represented director, he had helmed episodes of “Arrow,” “Supergirl,” “Batwoman” and “Superman & Lois.”

The new film is written by writers Glenn Ennis and Lynn Colliar. Production by Tetrad Studios sees Roy Scott MacFarland and Sam Levine producing. Sophie Barry is the associate producer. Bamford, Kimberly Hines and Alex Toumayan are executive producers.

Production on “Jade” is set in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The completed movie will be delivered by the first quarter of 2022.

West is a respected stunt person, martial artist and influencer, who will make her big-screen debut as an actor next month in Marvel’s “Black Widow,” as an assassin opposite Scarlett Johannsson. She is represented by Paul Byram at Paul Byram Associates.

Rourke, who has credits including “Sin City,” “The Expendables” and “The Wrestler,” is represented by Kimberly Hines, at Framework Entertainment and Barry McPherson at APA.

Dacascos, whose oeuvre includes “John Wick 3,” “Crying Freeman” and “Brotherhood of the Wolf” is represented by Mary Putnam-Green at MPG Management  and Todd Maginn at Global Artists Agency.
