The first Monday of May is here – which means the Met Gala is finally upon us. The annual star-studded ball, which took place at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, has become one of the most talked about and coveted events.
Branded by some as the biggest night in fashion, dozens of A-list stars attended the glittering soiree, which was hosted by Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, 72.
And while some seriously slayed the red carpet with their stunning looks, others completely missed the mark – including Gemma Chan, Chloe Grace Moretz, and Lala Anthony.
From bizarre structural frocks to tacky all-leather looks, there wasn’t a shortage of sartorial nightmares on the Met Gala red carpet.
Crazy Rich Asians star Chan, 39, wore a black and silver ensemble which contained an awkwardly-shaped box-like dress.
Anthony, 39, had a disastrous fashion faux pas in a sparkling maroon bodysuit and matching skirt, which she paired with a strange and eye-popping silver and maroon hat.

Tennis player Caroline Wozniacki, 31, suffered from a fashion fail in her navy blue dress. The gown had cut outs in the center and contained large, puffy sleeves

Former Miss USA 2007 Rachel Smith’s dress didn’t hit the fashion mark. The 37-year-old beauty queen wore a long, white gown with black flowers all over it. She paired the haltered dress with a big, black belt
Moretz, 25, opted for white bellbottom pants, a ruffled top, and a scarf. She paired the look with a silver, collared jacket.
And those stars were by no means the only celebrities whose looks flopped at this year’s gala, as there were a slew of style fails.

Acclaimed chef Melissa King, 38, had her legs on display in a pair of shorts. She also wore black and white striped high socks and a gold piece of gold jewelry on her hand, which made two of her fingers look extra long.

This year’s soirée sees the gala return to its first Monday in May date for the first time since 2019; it was canceled in 2020 amid the COVID pandemic and delayed to September last year over safety fears.
