An expert has revealed the meaning behind the onyx necklace Meghan Markle’s has worn on multiple occasions on her royal tour – explaining that the stone is believed to protect the wearer’s personal space.
The pregnant duchess has been spotted sporting the onyx pendant on a delicate chain on several occasions over the course of her mammoth 16-day Australasia tour with Prince Harry.
And according to crystal expert Emma Knowles, Meghan isn’t wearing the now sold out £295 rose gold, onyx and diamond piece by Pascale Monvoisin simply because it looks pretty.
Emma told FEMAIL that onyx is a stone used to ward off negative energy, adding that it an ideal choice to help protect the mother-to-be’s personal space – and help boost her energy for her hectic schedule.
The Duke and Duchess have been navigating numerous engagements in multiple locations daily during the tour, and on Wednesday Meghan’s solo visit to a market in Fiji was abruptly cut short following a security scare and ‘crowd control’ issues.

‘This piece is perfect for Meghan right now as it seeks to absorb and transform negative energy and works towards protecting and harnessing our personal energy.
‘It’s a wonderful stone for Meghan to support her energy flow on long days of touring especially whilst pregnant. The onyx will seek to enhance and uplift her energy, and prevent her from feeling drained.
Dressed in a simple white short and black jeans, the pregnant duchess was seen touching the necklace thoughtfully as she visited students from Dubbo College Senior Campus in New South Wales
‘The crystal effectively assists in holding her space keep her personal space safe and strong,’ Emma concluded.
Meanwhile crystal healer Judy Hall, author of Crystal Companion, told Femail: ‘Meghan’s choice of onyx and diamond is an inspired one. The synergy of two compatible crystals is always greater than one on its own.
‘The rigours of a royal tour are stressful enough without adding early pregnancy to the equation. So, the strength and support that onyx offers will provide stamina and overcome the tiredness of early pregnancy.
‘The stone also imparts self-confidence and self-control while a diamond is an amplifier of energy and commitment.
Meghan was then seen wearing it again walking along Kingfisher bay in Reformation maxi dress and brown leather lace-up sandals, teaming the necklace with her other favourite Missoma gold chain
The latest addition to her jewellery collection is a £295 piece by Pascale Monvoisin, made of rose gold and featuring onyx and diamond, which has already sold out online
‘It is one of the few stones that never needs recharging as it increases the energy of whatever it comes into contact with, and when used with other crystals for well-being as it enhances their power.
‘We will no doubt be seeing this potent necklace many times in the future as she navigates her way through her royal destiny.’
