Like many retailers, Marks & Spencer has made a lot of changes to how stores operate this year. It has now shared a message concerning the safety of those who shop in stores.
Marks & Spencer clothing branches have been closed for much of the last year due to the coronavirus pandemic.
M&S Foodhall stores, however, have remained open to sell essential grocery items.
Those who are planning to visit stores have been given a comforting message.
In light of recent events, the retailer issued a statement regarding the safety for all of those visiting stores.
A post on Twitter said: “If you ever feel unsafe, please come in and stay as long as you need to. Our colleagues are here to help you.”
The post was accompanied by a picture elaborating on the message.
It read: “Our stores are safe spaces for everyone in the community.
“If you feel unsafe please come in and stay as long as you need to.
“Our colleagues are there to help anyone who needs it.”
The post gathered nearly 3,000 ‘likes’ as shoppers shared their appreciation for the update.
One social media user commented: “This is wonderful and very much appreciated.”
Another added: “What a great thing to say. An amazing service you provide online and in store.”
“This is brilliant. Thank you @marksandspencer,” a third said.
“One of the many reasons why I am a long standing customer of yours. You actually care and are not afraid to show it.”
Other supermarkets have offered similar words of comfort to customers visiting stores this week.
In a message shared on Instagram, Asda wrote: “Everyone has the right to feel safe.
“Please know that you can always take your time, wait inside to reach out to our colleagues should you be concerned for your safety.
“Customers and colleagues, we will be there for you.”
Tesco also released a statement offering support to customers looking for help.
A statement said: “All our stores are safe spaces. So if you ever feel unsafe, please use our stores to wait for a taxi, a bus or a friend for as long as you need to.
“Our colleagues will be more than happy to help.”
