Fun reminder: Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner are married now thanks to a spontaneous Las Vegas wedding after the Billboard Music Awards that was equal parts tacky and glamorous (and live streamed by Diplo, who I have never been more grateful for). One might even say it was…~campy~.
And fun update: The pair just hit their very first red carpet as a married couple at the 2019 Met Gala, the theme of which happens to be “Camp: Notes on Fashion.” And no, that does not mean everyone showed up in tents. The theme is actually based on Susan Sontag’s 1964 essay titled “Notes on ‘Camp,'” where she wrote “The essence of Camp is its love of the unnatural: of artifice and exaggeration.”
Sophie and Joe clearly leaned into the theme, showing up in vaguely matching, slightly ’80s outfits:
