Kate Middleton shows she is ‘mother first and Duchess second’ with parenting style

Prince George and Louis’ ‘adorable’ message praised by experts

Kate Middleton and Prince William appear to value royal tradition in all parts of their lives. Tradition is something they appear to reinforce with their three young children.

Kate and Prince William are the parents of Prince George, seven, Princess Charlotte, five, and Prince Louis, two.

The young royals are set for important roles in the monarchy and are third, fourth and fifth in line to the British throne.

Because of this, they are sure to be brought up with a key understanding of Royal Family traditions.

They have already started attending some royal events such as Trooping the Colour and the Christmas Day church service.

While traditional values are sure to be important, a parenting expert explained Kate could put her family ahead of her royal role.

Parenting expert Cai Graham commented on the Duchess of Cambridge’s parenting style when she has appeared with her children.

Cai stated: “When the eyes of the world are upon you, it can be extremely daunting to appear as though you always ‘have it together’ and to act with decorum.

“Throw excitable and unpredictable children into the mix and it must be every mother’s nightmare; and yet Kate Middleton appears to take all this in her stride.”

The expert claimed Kate would be happy to set aside any protocols she should be following in public as a royal in order to help her children.

“She’s a mother first and a Duchess second,” the expert continued.

“When her children become overly excitable, Kate does not shy away from reprimanding her children in public.

“Without any drama Kate calmly makes eye contact with her children and reminds them, I can only presume, how best to settle down.

“Kate is able to take swift action without overreacting. A quick talking to shows ‘mum means business’.

“It is all that is required to help her children regain their composure.”

When Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis are out in public, Kate will ensure they are comfortable.

The mother-of-three will keep an eye on her children to make sure they are not overwhelmed, Cai added.

She commented: “Kate is terribly good at reassuring her children.

“There are times when her children have appeared rather overwhelmed with the situation they are in and Kate is always available to take them aside and offer them words of comfort.

“When emotions are highly charged, confrontation and discipline are not necessarily the right course of action.

“Again, Kate comes down to her children’s level, or scoops them up with a hug and lets them know she is close by.”
