Inside Meghan’s new glam posse – a feminist poet and a ‘hippie’ blogger

Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, celebrated her birthday with a new set of very well-connected friends this year, including a hairdresser who is pally with Brad Pitt and a woman set to marry the Oscar-nominated filmmaker who wrote the X-men films.

The Duchess has often spoken out about the importance of her female friendships, and how she has been able to learn from them in difficult times. Speaking to Variety in 2022. Meghan said: “The power of sisterhood and female support can never be underestimated.”

Meghan already has a host of famous friends, counting Oprah Winfrey and Ellen DeGeneres among them. Now, the royal has been spotted hanging out with two new famous female friends Cleo Wade, a feminist poet, and Kadi Lee, a celebrity hairdresser.

On Tuesday evening, Kadi shared a fun selfie of herself with Meghan and Cleo on her Instagram account Highbrow Hippie in which the Duchess can be seen smiling with her arms around both women.

It appears the group were celebrating Meghan’s birthday. Alongside the picture, Kadi wrote: “Belated birthday celebrations with these lovely muses.”

So, who are Meghan’s new celebrity friends?

Kadi Lee

Kadi Lee has been a celebrity hair colorist for over 20 years and has many well-known customers such as Brad Pitt, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Elle Fanning.

She co-founded the salon Highbrow Hippie in Califonia but the business began as a beauty, wellness, and lifestyle blog, Her hairstyles have been featured in major publications such as Vogue and Elle.

On the Highbrow Hippie website, she describes herself as “a self-proclaimed introvert” who enjoys “focusing on others, being true to, and proud of, her authentic self, and never being afraid of putting in the hard work.”

Highbrow Hippie has often posted about doing Meghan’s hair, and most recently did it for the Ms Foundation for Women’s 50th-anniversary awards in late May.

Kadi wrote that they had worked on the “golden and gorgeous” Duchess’ hair, which she described as being a “warm and rich brunette.”

Cleo Wade

Cleo Wade is a feminist poet and activist and is the fiance of Simon Kinerg, a filmmaker who is known for working on The Martian, Deadpool as well the X-Men movies.

She is known for her activism, artwork, and writing. In 2018, the New York Times published Cleo’s poem “How Are You Showing Up This Year” encouraging Americans to get involved in politics, and in 2019 Teen Vogue published her article titled “If I Could Write One Million Love Poems (A Love Letter To Trans Kids).”

Cleo’s public art installations have received a lot so publicity and her projects include a 25 feet love poem called “Respect” which could be seen in the New Orleans skyline, but her art has also been featured in Times Square, New York.

Actress Reese Witherspoon has highly praised Cleo, telling her fans to “Revere her in the way that you would adore your favorite loving, creative aunt or older sister” but other celebrities such as Katy Perry and Drew Barrymore have been counted as fans of the poet.

In an interview with the New York Times, Cleo described herself as not needing “to know someone to love someone” as well as being “everyone’s BFF.”
