Inside BBC’s Carol Kirkwood’s life off screen with mystery boyfriend

Carol Kirkwood is known for her bubbly personality while presenting the weather onBBC Breakfastand even showcased her moves when she appeared on Strictly Come Dancing in 2015.

But away from the screen, Carol’s personal life is relatively quiet and the 59 year old has remained tight-lipped about her time outside of the spotlight.

However, over recent years the TV personality has revealed that she’s experienced some big life changes.

Back in November 2020, the star explained that she was living alone at home after the death of her beloved cat Donald.

Since then, Carol has found love with a mystery partner and they spend a lot of time together at her home in Maidenhead.

Speaking to Prima magazine in 2021, the much loved presenter made the admission.

She said: “I don’t want to say too much about my boyfriend, but I will say that he is very kind and very funny – he’s always making me laugh. And extremely handsome, as well.”

She also revealed one romantic thing about her partner that she loves.

“He always makes me a cup of tea before I go to work in the morning, which is very romantic – it's 2.45am and he often leaves me a little love note for when I come home from work.

“That, to me, is worth a million red roses,” she said.

“He is the best thing that’s ever happened to me, without a shadow of a doubt.”

Prior to dating the mystery man, Carol was previously married to Jimmy Kirkwood in 1990.

However, the couple called time on their relationship after nearly two decades together and the pair split in 2008.

Speaking to Radio Times about the split, the weather presenter admitted that she’d gotten “braver” since her divorce.

“I’m braver now. I’ve flown with the Red Arrows, jumped out of planes with the Red Devils. When I was younger I would never have done that because I’d have thought, ‘Too dangerous!’

“Now I think, ‘Oh, you’ve got to live your life!’ I found myself when I got divorced. I started to do things and to think, ‘I’m not going to say no, I’m going to say yes!’,” she said.

Away fromleaving her co-presenters in hysterics on BBC Breakfast, in addition to appearing onStrictly Come Dancing alongside Pasha Kovalev in 2015, Carol has taken her hand to writing and released her debut novel last year.

The book, Under a Greek Moon, is a romance novel and has received rave reviews.
