I’m A Celebrity: The most unexpected but adorable friendships formed on the jungle show

Is it just us or is an unlikely celebrity friendship just the best thing ever? We’re talking Corrie’s Ryan Thomas making an unexpected appearance at Jennifer Lopez’s star-studded 50th birthday bash, and Kanye West and Donald Trump being pals.

But, perhaps some of the best and more bizarre companionships are formed in the I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here! jungle, from Michael Buerk and Tinchy Stryder’s jungle bond, to Vicky Pattison and Ferne McCann’s amazing camaraderie – but which other celebs become unlikely pals on the reality show?

Vicky Pattison and Ferne McCann

Whilst it doesn’t seem too outside the box that two young, female reality stars would become pals on a reality show, the war of words that had occurred between the pair prior to them meeting in the jungle had people thinking that a rivalry, and not a friendship, would most likely form.

Yet, to our viewing pleasure, TOWIE’s Ferne McCann became besties with Geordie Shore’s Vicky Pattison when they met in the I’m A Celeb jungle in 2015.

Supporting each other through the trials and tribulations of jungle life, they never failed to make us laugh and even went on a road trip together for This Morning after leaving the show. Girl power!

Michael Buerk and Tinchy Stryder

Is it just us or are you still hearing Michael Buerk say "Tinchy, my man!" and still feeling as shocked as ever? Yes, the Michael Buerk and Tichy Stryder friendship certainly was an adorable little shocker, and had viewers glued to screens witnessing the 60-something news reporter and 20-something rapper become friends. From raps to deep meaningful conversations, it was a friendship made in jungle heaven.

Joey Essex and Amy Willerton

The couple’s on-screen flirtation was all the more entertaining for viewers at home as the beautiful pair looked like the perfect Barbie and Ken. Their relationship steamed up in the jungle as they gave each other massages and watched each other sunbathe. After they got out of the jungle they briefly dated, but sadly it wasn’t a love to last through the ages.

George Takei and Joe Swash

Does it get much better than George Takei and Joe Swash’s friendship on I’m A Celeb 2008? The unlikely pals even shared a few friendly smooches along the way, as the Star Trek Sulu star and Mickey from EastEnders became jungle buddies. In fact, Joe even taught George his accent along with the Cockney song ‘Olly, Olly, Olly.’

Mark Wright and Dougie Poynter

We loved seeing these two bond over eating bugs and general jungle living. It was the first time viewers got a glimpse of the ‘real’ Mark Wright after his TOWIE exit, and found out more about usually quiet Dougie than thought possible. And it was all topped off with the duo making the final of the show together, with the McFly member taking the crown.

Edwina Currie and Jake Quickenden

Enjoying various conversations on the jungle sofa, Edwina Currie and Jake Quickenden quickly formed an unlikely friendship on I’m A Celeb. Former Tory MP Edwina and The X Factor’s Jake kept us glued to our TVs as they mulled over world issues. In fact, Jake even went so far as to say: "I think we’ve fallen in love a little bit."

Georgia Toffolo and Stanley Johnson

An unexpected friendship indeed – Made in Chelsea’s Georgia Toffolo and Boris Johnson’s dad Stanley won the hearts of the nations after they struck up an unlikely bond in the jungle in 2017. And, the pair even continued to be pals outside of the show, going for lunches and reuniting on Celebrity Gogglebox – so sweet!

Lady Colin Campbell and Kieron Dryer

Who remembers this hilarious companionship? Lady Colin Campbell may well have been a little hot-headed and quick to insult whilst in the jungle, but she did leave with one valued friendship – to footballer Kieron Dryer in fact. The pair often scuttled off for jungle chats, and Lady C described Kieron as "a gentleman through and through," as he continued to defend her during many a jungle feud.

Hugo Taylor and Eric Bristow

Made in Chelsea’s Hugo Taylor and professional darts player Eric Bristow had a bromance like no other back in 2012. The unlikely friends whiled away their jungle hours by hugging and chilling and even making promises of curry and football dates once back in the outside world. Well we never…
