I’m A Celebrity 2020 is fully under way and boy have there been some gruesome challenges so far on the hit show.

On Wednesday evening, fans watched as EastEnders stars Shane Richie and Jessica Plummer battled to get the camp some grub by downing some gut-wrenching drinks and struggling to hold them down.

We also saw Radio 1 DJ Jordan North vomit on a cliff edge as he braved his fears and got ready to abseil down it, plus he went underground with snakes galore in a bid to make sure his campmates didn’t go hungry.

Suffice to say, the contestants in the Welsh castle sure are having to put the work in to get their meals at night.

Not to mention they have bizarre meal times over in camp, with Ant and Dec telling the stars who will do the trial around 10pm, and the celebrity then heads off to carry it out.

Depending on how many stars they bring home, the food portions are delivered swiftly after, it has been reported, before the celebs eventually get some sleep around 3am and then have breakfast at 11am.

And despite winning the challenges and bagging stars galore, it doesn’t necessarily mean contestants will be rubbing their bellies after, as portion sizes are notoriously small.

Yet it appears rice and beans and meals won by campmates aren't the only meals the celebrities are enjoying.

Bosses have introduced 100 calories extra per day, per person, according to The Sun, in order to help everyone cope with the colder climes.

A source told the publication: “This year the food in camp will be carefully worked out by nutritionists to make sure campmates are getting enough calories in the cold so they don’t burn through it and grind to a halt – which could be possible with the expected huge drop in temperature in Wales.

“Producers are keen to celebrate British delicacies in the Bushtucker trials – both good and bad, from rough and ready tripe and trotters to traditions, like Black Pudding and rich, Welsh lamb, which non veggie contestants will found mouth-watering after starving on rations for weeks."

The I’m A Celebrity crew also have to account for various dietary requirements in camp, with Beverley Callard being vegan and Sir Mo Farah fed halal meat.

Beverley turned vegan in March, and it meant during the eating trial she was part of she was given select food items.

And Mo reportedly told producers early on about his eating habits, with the source continuing to tell The Sun:

And no matter what the stars eat, the team behind the show have to make sure celebrities eat enough to not feel unwell.

Back in 2017, Medic Bob told The Mirror: "I mean there's been a couple, I can't mention it medically, but there's been a couple that have had a few dizzy spells and we've given them some electrolyte drinks and some glucose."

"They're very hungry, really hungry. They're very hungry at the moment, they haven't done quite so well at the trials lately," he added at the time.
