How to get in to sold out Glastonbury 2023 festival for free

Getting Glastonbury tickets is no easy feat – and now, after the resale last weekend, your chances to buy one for 2023 are officially over.

In fact, such was the frenzy to get those golden tickets, that they were all snapped up in just six minutes.

But before you start packing away your camping gear and giant homemade flag, there is still hope.

There are still ways you can attend Glastonbury 2023 to see icons such as Arctic Monkeys, Elton John and Guns N’ Roses perform at Worthy Farm this June – and you can do it for free.

Volunteer

Volunteering for charity is always a good thing and when it comes to Glasto, it’s also going to save you a lot of money.

Volunteers will most likely be required to work three eight hour shifts for their ticket, but this could vary. You are also often required to pay a deposit which is returned to you once you complete your work.

The roles include litter picking, bar work, shower crew, stewards and manning the festival shop. There’s plenty to choose from.

Here are some charities looking for volunteers:

Oxfam

The charity has been partnering with Glastonbury for more than 25 years and you can give them a helping hand by manning the gates, campaigning with the public or working in the Oxfam festival shop.

Samaritans

Why not try joining Samaritans’ Festival Branch which attend anywhere from 18 to 20 festivals each year – including Glastonbury.

You would be part of providing a 24-hour face-to-face listening service throughout the event.

You can register your interest via the email address on their Festival Branch page.

Work with Oasis Carnival

It’s not exactly volunteering with a charity, but Oasis Carnival recruits stewards or those who can man the outside of the festival in exchange for a ticket.

You’ll be looking after people’s property, giving directions, checking passes and giving advice – but don’t stress because there will be security staff with you in case anyone gets a little rowdy.

You will be required to work three eight-hour shifts, at least one of which will be over the festival period.

What’s even better is people who have worked for Oasis Carnival before will get priority to work Glastonbury the next year too!

The Glastonbury Recycling Crew

You can attend the festival if you work as part of the Glastonbury Recycling Crew.

Just like the above opportunities you have to pay a deposit which is refunded to you after you complete your shifts.

Plus if you try this route, you’ll get to feel really good about saving the environment while you lap up the amazing sets from the artists.

You also get free tea and coffee and two free meals a day! You’ll need to bring your own tent though.

Be warned, places are limited and this one may come down to you knowing someone who has worked this job before.

Join Festaff

Festaff is a company that recruits volunteer staff to work multiple music festivals including Glastonbury – you can apply specifically for the festivals you want to work.

You must pay a deposit and the amounts differ depending on the festival you are looking to attend.

The company even tries to put friends on the same volunteer shifts, although this isn’t guaranteed.

A Willy Wonka style competition

Dutch Chocolatiers, Tony’s Chocolonely, has hidden five pairs of general admission weekend entry tickets for Glastonbury 2023 inside some of its limited-edition chocolate bars.

It’s literally a real life Willy Wonka golden ticket hunt!

The chocolate bars can be purchased until June 16 and all the profits go to Oxfam.

You must be 18 or over to take part in the giveaway and winneres can redeem entry for themselves and their guest by submitting the unique code on the website which can be found on the back of the ticket.

Save lives

If you are a fully qualified medic or first responder then you could volunteer with Festival Medical Services and apply to work Glastonbury 2023.

You’ll have to provide proof of qualifications, your passport, you’ll need to have a DBS check and pay a membership fee of £25.
