How to clean washing machine with soda crystals
Laundrapp has revealed exactly how to clean your machine using just soda crystals.
First, you’ll need to purchase a bag of soda crystals from the shops if you don’t already have some at home.
The most well-known brand in the UK is probably Dri Pak, and you can get 1kg of the stuff for £1.25 or even less in Sainsbury’s, ASDA, and other supermarkets.
Laundrapp recommends adding 500g of pure soda crystals to the drum, and then running your machine on the longest, hottest cycle.

Doing this will rinse away any stains and smells, leaving you with a clean, fresh machine.
If your machine is extra dirty or you live in a hard water area, add 250ml of white vinegar to the drum with the crystals.
The combination will get rid of any stubborn limescale build-up.
You can do this every time your machine starts to be less efficient or gives off a bad smell.
Ideally, clean your machine with this method every four to six weeks to avoid the build-up.
Some experts suggest adding soda crystals to every single wash.
Add your detergent to the machine using the dosage suitable for soft water areas first.
Then, add the soda crystals depending on how hard your water is.
If your area has medium-hard water, add 25 grams of soda crystals.
Add 50 grams if it is a hard water area and add 75 grams if you live in a very hard water area.
Put the crystals in the drum if you put the liquid in the drawer or the other way around.
