Home cook’s hack to make roast potatoes without oven – and they’re super crispy

A self-taught chef has upped the roast potato game by making a sautéed spuds filled with aromatic flavours.

Morgan Hipworth, from Melbourne, Australia, shared his secret recipe including a what he called "liquid gold" ingredient to enhance the crispy texture and rich flavour of the potatoes.

He posted the video on TikTok and told his fans: "These are some of the best potatoes I've ever made.

"First off, peel and dice the potatoes.

"I took them to boil in the water until they turn soft, then drain the potatoes and lay them on a baking tray until they are completely dry."

Then he gets to work on the herby flavour.

Morgan peels the garlic cloves and thinly slices them before dropping them into a pot of olive oil.

"Allow the garlic cook in low heat for about 20 minutes, drain the oil and keep them in a bowl – this is what I called the 'liquid gold'," he continues.

"Next, heat the pan to high heat and fry the potatoes and sauté them to super crispy.
