Heartbroken Thomas Cook stewardess in tears on loudspeaker during final flight

Thomas Cook passengers broke into applause after a flight attendant bid them a teary farewell on her final flight.

The holidaymakers were among thousands of Brits still being flowing home following the travel giant's collapse last month.

On board the flight from Larnaca in Cyprus back to Birmingham, the teary crew member said over the loudspeaker: "Some of you might be confused why you are travelling on a Thomas Cook-branded aircraft with ex Thomas Cook staff as well.

"Unfortunately all of us lost our jobs on Monday which have just been taken from beneath us. It's very upsetting.

"The cabin grew have been extremely brave in putting their uniforms on, but we just wanted to ensure that we were able to come to work and bring you back with our Thomas Cook crew that took you out.

"I think this is the last time for myself that I will be reading out this demonstration for you."

Fellow crew member Jessica Downes recorded her colleague's teary words and posted the footage in Facebook .

Jessica, 20, based art Birmingham Airport, wrote: "I just wanted to share this really emotional last time (video) with you all.

"Thank you Thomas Cook for making the last 2 years the happiest years of my life."

Jessica told Birmingham Live she fears not being paid for two months' work – September working for Thomas Cook and then October for the government-backed repatriation flights.
