Grandmother gored by nightclub’s mechanical bull before collapsing in agony

A grandmother was left with horrific injuries after getting her arm trapped in a mechanical bull in a nightclub.

Shocking footage shows Janice Clixby, 54, desperately trying to get her limb free from the machine in a venue in Scunthorpe.

She got her arm stuck in a hole where the bull’s ear should have been.

Janice was left with a large, bleeding gouge after the bull continued to spin around her, Grimsby Live reports.

It happened in Schnapps Bar in the town centre, where she collapsed in agony after her horror ordeal.

Janice, who had only had one drink in the bar, said that she was shouting at the man controlling the bull to stop, but said he could not hear her over the venue’s music.

She said: “My family came down from Scotland, so we went out for some food and ended up going for a few drinks in Schnapps.

“I was not drunk at all. I only had one drink. I’d been on the mechanical bull loads of times in the past so I decided to go on it again with my family being there.

“Whilst I was on it, I grabbed what I thought would be the ear, but there was a hole and my arm got stuck in it. It was very painful, I thought I had broken it for sure.

“I was in so much pain that I had to have a drip in and was given morphine amongst other painkillers.”

Janice, who works at Scunthorpe General Hospital as a support worker, spent the night in hospital and suffered severe soft tissue damage after the incident on December 9.

The next day, she went back to the nightclub to speak to the staff.

Janice said: “I told her how badly it injured me and was told that it won’t happen again. It was only until one of the bar staff later saw photos of my arm was when they apologised.

“They didn’t even apologise at first. I still haven’t had an apology from the owner.”

Janice claims that she has spoken to solicitors as she had very limited use of her arm and was unable to work.

Scunthorpe Live have contacted Schnapps Bar and are currently awaiting a comment.
