James Caan, the legendary actor who starred in films including “The Godfather” and “Brian’s Song,” died at age 82 on Wednesday evening.
“It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of Jimmy on the evening of July 6,” read a statement posted to Caan’s Twitter Thursday.
“The family appreciates the outpouring of love and heartfelt condolences and asks that you continue to respect their privacy during this difficult time.”
A cause of death has not been revealed.
Over Caan’s six decades in the entertainment business, he starred in films including “El Dorado,” “Misery,” “Elf, “Bottle Rocket” and many more.
